Crêpes in the sea breeze of Brittany, a glass of wine on the promenade of the Côte d'Azur or a coffee in a chic Parisian café. No matter where, you will definitely experience the French flair. Whether it's a trip to the fashion capital, a vacation on the beach or a visit to a Renaissance castle, the French magic unfolds everywhere.

Entry & Visas

France is a member of the EU, which is why EU citizens do not require a visa. In addition, there are generally no border controls within the EU. You only need to carry your identity card with you.

Central European Time (UTC+1) applies.

Credit cards & ATMs

There are ATMs everywhere in the cities. Outside of cities, however, you should always have enough cash with you. In restaurants and other establishments, it is best to ask in advance whether card payment is possible.

Best time to visit

It depends on what you have in mind. If you want to go to the beach, May to September are ideal. You can go on a city trip all year round. For skiing, you should arrive between December and March.

A national driving license is sufficient for EU citizens. The road network is well developed and the roads are usually in good condition. The traffic signs and rules are largely standardized within Europe.

The speed limits are 130 km/h on freeways, 110 km/h on motorways; 80 km/h outside built-up areas and 50 km/h within built-up areas. The blood alcohol limit is 0.5 per mille.
