Coffee Cupping

Even though I don’t drink coffee myself (caffeine and I just don’t get along), I couldn't avoid the coffee culture in Melbourne – and honestly, I totally get the hype. The city is a true paradise for coffee lovers, and you can feel it on every corner.

One particularly fascinating concept I kept coming across in Melbourne is called coffee cupping. It’s basically a guided tasting of different coffee varieties – think of it like a wine tasting. You smell, slurp, compare – and discover how much the flavor of coffee can vary depending on its origin, roast, and brewing method.

I didn’t take part in the tasting myself, but just watching was enough to appreciate how much passion, craftsmanship, and knowledge go into a great cup of coffee. If you’re a coffee enthusiast (or just curious), it’s definitely a special experience!

Tip: Many well-known roasteries like Proud Mary, Rumble Coffee Roasters, Market Lane Coffee, and Seven Seeds regularly offer cupping sessions – just drop by and see where it takes you.

I have put together a list of all the places on Google Maps.

You can find the list here.
