Côte d'Azur

What comes to mind when you think of the Côte d'Azur? Glamor, luxury and celebrities? Possibly. But the Côte d'Azur is much more than that! The French Rivera with its azure blue sea, beautiful beaches and Mediterranean villages as well as its impressive nature attracts tourists from all over the world for good reason.

dear(travel)diary,

I just wanted to visit my cousin and suddenly we both spontaneously booked a vacation in the south of France for the day after next. Quickly wash everything, pack and off we went!

Everything just fitted into my convertible. And then the weather was perfect for driving the whole way to France with the top down. We were in for an unforgettable trip! What did we experience and do there? You'll find out straight away...

xx Chiara

WHERE YOU CAN EAT WELL

... we probably can't even say. Because we were so unlucky when it came to eating out! Either everything was already full or we couldn't find anything or they couldn't let us in (in Monaco) because of the (then) corona regulations. I've never experienced such a run of bad luck! But we did discover a few nice places and they were all very good. I want to introduce you to the best places here:

  • We discovered three nice boulangeries near Néoules, which we went to for breakfast. We also had a good breakfast in a small café in Cannes.
    • Boulangerie, 15 Route de Brignoles, 83136 Méounes-lès-Montrieux
    • La Fournee de Bella, 1 Rue de Aires des Dames, 83136 Garéoult
    • Lafitau Freres, 10 Rue de la Russie, 83136 Garéoult
    • Sapore Di Pane Caffetteria, 8 Rue du Marché Forville, 06400 Cannes
  • We usually made baguettes for lunch. But in Nice we had delicious tapas. You can also get good lunches at the markets.
    • Marché Forville, 6 Rue du Marché Forville, 06400 Cannes
    • Marché Aux Fleurs, Cours Saleya, 06300 Nice
    • Waka Bar, 57 Quai des États-Unis, 06300 Nice
  • We had the worst luck in the evening. Once a pizza stand even turned us away because it was fully booked. On the other hand, the food we had in the few restaurants we visited was really, really good!
    • Restaurant Les Vignes D'or, 5 Pl. du Château, 83136 Néoules
    • Le Will, Route des plages, 83350 Ramatuelle (Golfe de St. Tropez)

WHERE WE SPENT THE NIGHT

Our Airbnb was not located directly on the Côte d'Azur, but in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. We therefore needed a car to visit the many places on the Côte d'Azur. The trips there usually took between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on where we wanted to go. But it was worth it for the accommodation! We stayed in a small French cottage with a pool. It had so much charm and the garden was really beautiful. That's why we loved just spending time by the pool and were sad when we had to leave.

The accommodation is on the property of Evgeniya and Jacques. They also have their own house here, but the Airbnb is detached from it. It is located right next to the large, beautiful saltwater pool. The house itself is small but nice. We had a large bedroom, a small kitchen with a dining table and a small bathroom. We also had our own terrace and could do our laundry right next door. In addition, Evgeniya and Jacques are very nice! We would love to visit them again!
